Solana’s decentralized exchange (DEX) aggregator Jupiter is set to airdrop JUP tokens to its community in January 2025 and 2026 after Jupiter DAO—the collective of JUP token holders—approved an airdrop proposal revised after a failed first attempt to distribute $1.7 billion worth of tokens.
More than 87% of the votes were in favor of the second proposal, which made some key changes from the first, which only received 58% of the votes in favor at the end of last month, below the 70% required to pass. the proposal.
Incorporating feedback from thousands of previous voters, the second proposal included key changes from the first, such as providing an allocation for JUP stakers and increasing the focus on including real users, rather than airdrop farming bots, through criteria such as “actual holdings” and “participation in the ecosystem”.

“Every effort should be made to ensure that JUP reaches the right people who have a good chance of becoming long-term members, not farmers or overly focusing on a minority set of users,” wrote Meow, the pseudonymous co-founder of Jupiter, in the second proposal.
Jupiter concluded its first airdrop to ecosystem participants in January 2024, distributing 1.35 billion JUP, or 13.5% of the total supply of 10 billion tokens to nearly 1 million eligible wallets.
The final amounts of JUP tokens were not included in the second proposal, with Meow citing that debating the exact number “will be the burden the team will have to bear.” The first airdrop proposal called for 700 million JUP tokens to be reserved for each of the next two Januarys, a total of $1.7 billion at current JUP prices.
“We all want the same thing: to grow the Jupiverse in the best way possible,” Meow said.
JUP, the native token of the Jupiter ecosystem, is currently trading at $1.22, down 7.5% in the last 24 hours.
