Comic Relief US and Nickelodeon team up in the Metaverse
Comic Relief US and Nickelodeon have teamed up to launch the second annual Kids Relief: Game to Change the World campaign, inspiring kids to become a force for good and take positive action to benefit their communities.
The virtual-to-real movement invites kids to take on virtual quests and real-life missions focused on community engagement and service. This experience also includes a Roblox scavenger hunt featuring top games like SpongeBob Simulator and Ninja Turtles. Users travel through portals to collect magical tools that will improve their surroundings.
Additionally, Nickelodeon is promoting an instructive guide for kids to start their own local, real-life projects, like backpack drives. The campaign will culminate in a weekend-long music festival on Roblox beginning on September 13 featuring rock band Imagine Dragons. This must-see interactive event will feature inspiring stories of kids making real changes in their communities.

He The Museum of Contemporary Art (MAC) of the University of Chile and the Telefónica Movistar Foundation have established a strategic alliance to create a new immersive experience in the history of telecommunications.
The project, called Missus, provides an educational experience with an aesthetic inspired by video games, which traces the development of communication technologies in Chile. Through a personalized avatar, users can interact in real time with key events such as:
- The creation of the telegraph in 1872.
- The arrival of landline telephony in homes, offices and public spaces.
- The use of the Internet.
- Remote work and video calls.
- The emergence of cryptocurrencies.
It is worth noting that the main use will be for guided classes that all schools in any region of the country will be able to access.

Led by the professor and researcher from the University of Malaga (UMA), Ernesto Colomo, together with researchers and teachers who are experts in the field, from universities such as Seville, Murcia, Valladolid, the UMA and the Autonomous University of Madrid.

The Metaverse: The novelty of the fifth edition of the LINK Festival
At the La Vega Weapons Factory, located in the city of Oviedo, Spain, the Oviedo Unusual Cultural Experiences Circuit offers a selection of cultural and artistic expressions from the national and international scene. Including virtual reality and augmented reality experiences, as well as a guided tour of a Metaverse through VR Chat.
This is NAMUANKI, led by its creator Kevin Mack, a thousand-year-old aquatic oasis taken from the distant future, designed to generate an experience of wonder and mystery. This oceanic universe with rocky islands and strange life forms can be explored above and below the water.
In this regard, José Castellano, the director of LINK, has highlighted that “There is virtual reality and Metaverse, a piece of augmented reality and two artistic installations. We use three spaces. There are eight different proposals, with the Metaverse as a novelty so that several people can be interacting in a parallel world.”
For his part, the Councillor for Culture, David Álvarez, has underlined the importance of LINK, “A commitment to cutting-edge languages, for all audiences and especially for young people, who are always closely related to the technical side and new technologies. This is the tip of the iceberg to make us the European Capital of Culture.”
Are they scamming in the Metaverse?
After an investigation that lasted more than a year, the Specialized Cybercrime Prosecutor’s Office of Córdoba, under the direction of Franco Pilnik, arrested a 22-year-old man accused of being the founder of a fictitious investment company, under the name of AW Capital. In addition, they arrested three young collaborators, aged between 18 and 21.

This was the offer with which they attracted their “clients” from the firm they operated: “Each client has their own particular needs, that is why we provide face-to-face advice so that the client feels secure when making an investment.”
As for the products they offered, they sold “Crypto Games,” which were presented as “games based on Blockchain technology.” Indeed, they promised access to a platform that, with an initial investment, allowed users to make “transactions or earn cryptocurrencies” by playing.
They also offered a “Metaverse” to “simulate physical experiences virtually in the most realistic way possible.” The main goal of this supposed business was to imitate real-life experiences, but in a digital environment, such as the purchase and sale of assets.
In reality, this entity collected dollars from clients for supposed investments in cryptocurrencies and tokens within a Metaverse, promising high and fast returns, but never returned the profits.
Ultimately, the group of young people kept the dollars and did not generate the promised business, much less the returns that, according to specialists linked to the investigation, were impossible to achieve.
I leave with this quote from Brenda Romero: “The Metaverse is the next frontier of creativity and human expression.”
