Community Gaming announced Monday that its upcoming video game-focused prediction marketplace, Forkast, will launch on the Ethereum gaming network, Ronin.
The platform will allow users to stake and earn rewards while making predictions about gaming events, esports, Web3 and internet culture. Forkast is one of the first consumer apps to integrate with Ronin, a network that hosts games like Pixels and Axie Infinity.
Community Gaming is a Blockchain-based competitive gaming ecosystem and tournament platform. The collaboration with Ronin means that Forkast will use Ronin Waypoint, a universal account and keyless wallet, to facilitate user access and enable gasless transactions for certain activities such as claiming reward boxes.
“Ronin has proven to be the undisputed leader for gaming,” Chris Gonsalves, CEO of Community Gaming, told Decrypt. “Community Gaming has already been building on Ronin and supporting the community there for years with CG Tournaments. Their tools are solid and they have proven how resilient their ecosystem is through multiple cycles.”
Forkast will be built around Community Gaming’s upcoming CGX token, and users of the platform will earn weekly loot boxes with tokens, market credits, and other rewards.
Both Forkast and the CGX token are expected to launch in January 2025.
For Ronin, which was launched by Sky Mavis, creator of Axie Infinity, the addition of a prediction market platform gives the network another way to keep users engaged, particularly as its approach is aligned with Ronin’s core core. .
“Community Gaming built during the bear market and was a key partner for our Axie tournaments. Now, they are taking the next step with Forkast, the first Ronin predictions marketplace,” said Jeff Zirlin, co-founder and Chief Growth Officer of Sky Mavis , to Decrypt. “Prediction markets and gaming networks go hand in hand, as there are many potential outcomes, both in-game and in real life, to bet on.”
“I will definitely be using Forkast,” he added, “and this is just the beginning of a new wave of consumer applications on Ronin.”
