Cryptocurrency gaming franchise Super Champs is scheduled to launch its CHAMP token on the Ethereum Base layer 2 network this Wednesday, November 20 at 7am UTC.
Super Champs is an anime-inspired mobile game franchise that has released two games so far, as well as an NFT collection, a comic, and more. Their first mobile game was Racket Rampage, a tennis-inspired action role-playing game, which was followed by the battle royale shooter Bullet League.
CHAMP is intended to become the primary currency used to purchase Super Champs assets such as NFTs, cosmetics, and subscriptions. It will also be used in season-based rewards programs within the franchise.
Super Champs is now in season two of its rewards program, where players are incentivized to complete game missions and social tasks to earn points. These points will then help determine how many CHAMP tokens the player will receive in a future airdrop.
Of the total supply of 1 billion tokens, 30% goes to community rewards (i.e. for NFT holders, token stakers, and bounty programs), as well as 30% for ecosystem development. Additionally, 20.5% will also be awarded to those who invested in the Super Champs Universe through Joyride Games, and 8% will be provided for liquidity.
These allocations will begin to unlock on November 20, according to the Super Champs white paper, and will take 60 months to be fully released. A final 11.5% will be reserved over several months for Super Champs team members and collaborators.
CHAMP is also planned to be a governance token, however, it is unclear exactly how this will manifest. It is likely that token holders will be able to vote on proposals for the Super Champs ecosystem in some type of decentralized autonomous organization (DAO).
Decentralized exchange Aerodrome will be the partner for the upcoming token launch, which likely means it will be the first place where users will be able to purchase CHAMP.
