CCP Games has revealed Founder’s Access Packs, a set of early access benefits that will allow users a chance to play and participate in the development of its upcoming space survival game, Eve Frontier.
The bundles, available in three different tiers ranging from $30 to $90, are currently on sale. On December 10, purchasers of Founder Access benefits will be able to join an “always-on server” in the Closed Alpha and begin making a mark in the malleable world of space gaming.
All Founder Access tiers will also include benefits such as unique skins, a “Founder” role on the Discord server, monthly developer streams, and premium post-launch subscription playtime in Eve Frontier. The game will eventually be free to play when it opens widely to the public.
“Our long-term vision is to create an open ecosystem, built, operated and governed by the inhabitants of Frontier themselves,” CCP Games CEO Hilmar Veigar Pétursson said in a statement. “Founder Access is the start of an exciting new phase in this development, giving players the opportunity to be a fundamental part of our collaborative approach in a meaningful way.”
Eve Frontier, a space survival game where “the world is out to get you,” as Pétursson previously told Decrypt, will be built on Ethereum’s layer 2 network, Redstone, and will feature multiple crypto tokens, including a EVE which is described as the “utility token” of the game.
CCP Games, known for the massively multiplayer online (MMO) game Eve Online, announced in March 2023 that it had raised $40 million, in a round led by venture capital giant Andreesen Horowitz, to develop a game powered by blockchain technology.
Players participating in the Founder Access Closed Alpha will be subject to a non-disclosure agreement (NDA) when it launches on December 10, according to an FAQ on the Eve Frontier website.
