Does Milei’s government imply the discovery that the modern State is mortal?
-
Milei claims to be an anarchist at heart, but a minarchist in practice.
Those in ambush with the famous Odysseus were already in the agora of the Trojans, hidden inside the horse, since the Trojans themselves had dragged him to the Acropolis.
The Odyssey; Homer
Milei considers himself an anarcho-capitalist. He despises the State and despises the violence it exercises, as he recently expressed in his conversation with Lex Fridman. An anarchist who becomes president must embody a moderate version of himself, or with the lightning-fast and total absolution of the State he would destroy his own power, legally acquired through democratic means. Such a destruction of the State would incur a contradiction of principles with purposes, and the impossibility of applying an “anarchic” political agenda on a national scale.
This is why, in political practice, anarchism can lead to minarchism, a political philosophy that follows a principle similar to this one, but moderating and atomizing it. After being an anarchist, Javier Milei is a minarchist.
Minarchism does not seek to abolish the State completely, but rather its fragments. He is an organ thief: It proposes not the destruction, but the diminution of the State: shortening its plots, rights and functions, to reduce it to the quintessence most compatible with individual freedom. According to Ludwig von Mises, nothing is more ridiculous than governments that are responsible for “preparing sauerkraut, making trouser buttons, or publishing newspapers.” In this sense, Milei has already implemented resolutions that go in this direction of shortening the State: reduction of ministries, dismissal of public employees (close to 50,000 so far), elimination of public works and discretionary transfers between provinces, among others. .
That an anarchist, even a moderate one in practice, became president of a government is a fact worthy of study. I believe that this event symbolizes how, through the method of democratic suffrage, Citizens introduced a Trojan horse into conventional politics (e.g., statist politics) to attack it from within of its own walls.
During his political campaign, Javier Milei said openly, not once but many times: “Bitcoin-estado-enemigo-presidente-argentina/” target=”_blank” rel=”noreferrer noopener”>I consider the State as an enemy”, as we reported in CriptoNoticias. More predictable practical consequences cannot be derived from such a short sentence. With Milei, therefore, political deception is ruled out. The political crusade against the State was chosen by the people.
We already said what Javier Milei, president, symbolizes. Now let’s say what it means, its meaning: people are tired of the State being one more stone, the biggest of all, on their already heavy existential burdens. Not content with the difficulties of existing, which are many, they realize, to make matters worse, that a flying Leviathan threatens them, circumnavigating the borders of their cities: the State. Now, perhaps those who live in the belly of Leviathan They are beginning to allow themselves to see further, through the animal’s gills.
I have no opinion about Javier Milei as a person and politician. But I do sense and wonder something about Javier Milei, symbol of an anarchist government. With its arrival, is it not evident that the State, the greatest of modern myths, can die, or at least transform into something else?
