“If he were alive (which I don’t think) I’m sure he would have a big smile on his face now,” said the businessman, referring to BTC’s recent rise to $103.9K. Will we never know who Satoshi Nakamoto is?
The fact that in more than 15 years no one has an idea about the real identity of the mysterious creator of Bitcoin is intriguing. Since the digital currency gained popularity, dozens of people have dedicated themselves to the task of trying to find the human being behind the pseudonym. However, all attempts have so far been unsuccessful.
Some of the probable theories point to people who have already died, such as Hal Finney, while other assumptions do not fit in many ways. The most recent case involves engineer Peter Todd, 39, who was accused by an HBO documentary of being Nakamoto. However, the latter categorically denies that possibility.
In any case, the vast majority of bitcoiners consider that it is better not to know who the creator of the currency is. The coming to light of the developer’s identity could greatly shake the markets, considering his possession of more than one million BTC. For Novogratz, Satoshi Nakamoto will never be a face that can be pointed at.
The expert emphasizes that Nakamoto’s original intention was to create a payment system. Despite this, its currency achieved the quality of a reserve of value and many companies observe it as such.
At the time of writing this note, the price of Bitcoin is $98,547 per unit. After reaching $103.9K on Thursday, the coin saw a sharp pullback to $92K. Such volatility could cause greater capital inflows and lead the price to a new attempt to establish itself above $100,000.
