The founder of Cardano is located in Argentina, the country where the Constitutional Convention 2024 is taking place.
It can be read in the website of the event that seeks to achieve “a Constitution for fully decentralized on-chain governance” and thus “guarantee that each ADA holder has a voice in shaping the future of the Cardano network.”
As part of his activities, on the afternoon of December 4 at the Faculty of Law of the University of Buenos Aires, Hoskinson held a press conference in which he spoke with local journalists about various topics related to Cardano and cryptocurrencies.
Several of the questions were about their expectations for the government of the current Argentine president, Javier Milei. As CriptoNoticias has reported, this is not the first time that Hoskinson is in the South American country and months ago he maintained meetings with government officials.
About the Milei’s relationship with cryptocurrenciesHoskinson opined:
«The current president of Argentina has made it very clear that he is an admirer of private currencies by mentioning Hayek, Rothbard and the Austrian school of economics. One of the pillars of that economic trend is that the government does not necessarily have to be in the business of printing money. And this may seem like a strange concept, but let’s remember that in the European Union, if you live in Greece, Italy or France, you don’t print your own money. It actually comes from somewhere else: the euro. So, monetary competition is an important aspect, and Argentina is currently experimenting with that.

At the press conference, Hoskinson stated that he was aware of the changes that are taking place in Argentina and demonstrated optimism.
“The Milei government has been quite involved in structural reforms,” said Hoskinson. But, in the opinion of the founder of Cardano, in every cut (for example, budget or personnel) there are excesses that must then be corrected.
With respect to the cuts that Milei has made in the Argentine State (which included the removal of several ministries), Hoskinson said:
«At some point, these reforms must lead to a reconstruction of the eliminated ministries, since they fulfilled a function. Whether they did it right or wrong is part of the public policy debate. However, it is necessary to educate the population, enforce the law, have voting systems and have a national identification system. Whether this is managed by the government or the private sector, it remains an essential function of society. My hope is that the Milei administration, as it rebuilds, adopts an approach that incorporates Blockchain technology, as it can achieve the goal of privatization while preserving the fundamental purpose of government: ensuring freedom and equality for all people. .
Charles Hoskinson, founder of Cardano.
It is worth clarifying that Hoskinson makes broad use of the term “blockchain” as a substitute for Cryptocurrency technology. But, to be strict with the meaning and following the definition of the Bitcoin/” target=”_blank” rel=”noreferrer noopener”>Cryptopedia“blockchain” only refers to the ledger, an encrypted information file that contains the history of transactions carried out on a network.
CriptoNoticias, present at Hoskinson’s press conference, asked him for more details about his statement. How come Milei should re-establish things that he himself removed?
The creator of Cardano He clarified that he does not consider himself an expert in Argentine politics, so he expressed: “I will let tomorrow discuss the things that he considers that at some point should be restored.”
However, he provided an example to better illustrate what he meant:
“Every time a downsizing is carried out, as Elon Musk did at Twitter by cutting 80% of the staff, it is eventually rehired, but much more deliberately and carefully. Even if you get it 90% right, there is always 10% to adjust in the process. The interesting thing is that as you rebuild, you can more clearly discuss who the right people are to take on these tasks. Should they be government employees? Can they be external contractors? Is a blockchain-based system viable? Or perhaps a foreign agency? Even if it is a government, is it more appropriate to manage it at the federal or provincial level?

The computer specialist immediately made an analogy with what happens in the United States to explain how Bitcoin and cryptocurrency technology should be used in state administration.
“In the United States we have big problems with our Department of Defense,” he explained. He detailed that “they have failed audits for almost a decade, they have lost hundreds of billions of dollars and people have died as a result of errors and bad practices.” As if all that were not enough, Hoskinson adds that “they also regularly withhold information from the American people, especially about failures.”
The founder of Cardano says that as a US citizen, all of this seems unacceptable to him. But instead, now “it is refreshing as a country to have the opportunity to reevaluate the relationship with that agency and propose new ideas to implement radical transparency and accountability.” “That way,” he adds, “we can not only reduce the budget, but also obtain a better result in general.”

Charles Hoskinson and Donald Trump
There is rumors that Hoskinson could be part of Donald Trump’s governmenteven if only as a consultant or external advisor.
During his press conference in Buenos Aires, the computer scientist did not provide confirmations, but he did hint that he will maintain a fluid relationship with government sectors.
Furthermore, the founder of Cardano is evidently optimistic about the Trump administration, which has promised regulations aimed at favoring the cryptocurrency industry:
«The next president of the United States, Trump, has made it clear that he wants the United States to be the best country in the world to found and run cryptocurrency businesses. There is a lot to do to achieve that. And the United States is a country that values the separation of powers in its processes. So, although the executive branch has a significant degree of power, there is also the legislative branch, the administrative arms of the government, and the judicial branch. Each of them must be aligned in their own way.
Charles Hoskinson, founder of Cardano.
Hoskinson commented that In their organization they have been working with various factions “to try to be a main connector”. He detailed: “We are trying to collaborate with the Senate, the House of Representatives, key members of the CFTC and with the future SEC when the administration changes, trying to outline what needs to be done to fulfill the mandate that the President has established.”
Additionally, he referenced Trump’s desire to appoint someone to be a sort of “cryptocurrency czar.” Hoskinson believes that “it is unlikely that person is an industry member, due to federal ethics regulations.” He estimates that it will be someone who has “the skills and knowledge, but also the objectivity and neutrality for a position like that.”
Hoskinson advances that in the Trump government there will be several roles “to facilitate the approval of legislation, as well as the restructuring of administrative policies, in order to make the United States the best country for cryptocurrency ventures.”
«Venezuela desperately needs this»
Coming to the end of the press conference, Hoskinson was questioned about the political crisis that Venezuela is going through and how Cardano or cryptocurrency technology could help.
“How many here believe that Venezuela’s elections were fair?” Hoskinson asked rhetorically, and then said:
«That is an example of a failed institution: if you can’t even trust the outcome of your elections, how can you have a democracy or even pretend to have one? What blockchain can do for you is allow you to reintroduce property rights, the rule of law and credibility behind people’s statements and the actions they take. A government like Venezuela’s desperately needs this because the institutions have lost international credibility and therefore the leaders are, frankly, illegitimate until proven otherwise.
