Dogecoin is back in the spotlight, recently hitting a three-year high price amid a broader Cryptocurrency market surge, not to mention the continued promotion of Elon Musk, who will co-lead a government agency called the Department of Government Efficiency—yes, DOGE.
The original meme coin is all about vibes, and if you’re looking to incorporate more of that silly fun into your life, then you can find Dogecoin and the dog meme image in various games.
From a Fortnite-like battle royale shooter to a strategic card game and even a casual metaverse gaming world, here are seven games to play that celebrate all things DOGE.
OpenSeason
Fortnite-like battle royale shooter OpenSeason added a Doge-themed custom biome in April. In a blog post, the game’s developers said it is a “kingdom where every corner tells the story of Kabosu, the Doge, our beloved Shiba Inu.”
The Ethereum-based shooter built the digital environment in collaboration with the NFT project Own the Doge, the crypto project that owns the official Doge IP. OpenSeason is available through the Epic Games Store.
Raini: The Lord of Light
The Hearthstone-style collectible card game Raini: The Lord of Light is packed with crypto-themed cards. The game is dominated by references to cryptocurrencies, including a letter from disgraced FTX founder Sam Bankman-Fried, as well as pseudonymous Bitcoin creator Satoshi Nakamoto.
Of course, it makes sense that there would be a reference to Dogecoin in the game. The game teased an “Unleash the Doges” card featuring Amazon founder Jeff Bezos in 2022, and then finally released a “Chad Doge” card as an Avalanche NFT.
Super Doginals
The retro-style fighting game Super Doginals is so Doge-themed that it is registered on the Dogecoin Blockchain via the Doginals protocol, that was a lot of Doge in one sentence, a lot of surprise.
It’s similar to classic fighting games like Streets of Rage and Fatal Fury, only you control one of three characters, two of which are anthropomorphic Shiba Inu dogs, while beating up enemies based on other meme-friendly creatures like monkeys, cats, and frogs.
Decentraland
Ethereum-based metaverse game Decentraland adopted AI last year to allow players to chat with non-playable characters, or NPCs. Added characters include Simone the Robot, 23-year-old streamer Aisa, and a muscular Doge—who is said to be a cheerful character, despite his imposing stature.
The game is free, although the world of Decentraland is divided into 90,000 units of NFTs, known as LAND—so if you want to build publicly, you will have to shell out money. But you don’t need to spend anything to walk and chat with Doge.
Who is the Top DOG?
Registered on the Bitcoin blockchain through the Ordinals protocol, Who is the Top Dog? It is a Pac-Man clone with crypto elements. Pac-Man is replaced by the DOG token mascot in Runes, while the ghosts are replaced by the puppies associated with the popular meme coins Shiba Inu, Dogwifhat, Floki and, of course, DOGE.
It can also be played as a built-in game on the BitBoy One handheld gaming console, basically a Bitcoin version of Nintendo’s Game Boy, which is starting to ship to early buyers.
Katana Inu
The NFT-based battle royale game Katana Inu has a Dogecoin-themed playable character who wields a sword, even using him as the game’s mascot. But it’s not just Doge: the game has tons of characters dedicated to cryptocurrency projects like the NPC memecoin, an apparent tribute to Pepe, and even one dedicated to Solana—yes, the cryptocurrency and network.
PixelTap
Tap-to-win game on Telegram PixelTap added “El Giga Chad Doge” in June, yes, you read that right. The story here is that the cute Doge we all know and love was hit by an “energy beam” that turned the little dog into a hyper-muscular version of himself.
This character can be used in the Telegram game Pixelverse to fight enemies and progress within the game.
