Beijing-based Shengshu Technology has announced that its artificial intelligence (AI) tool for converting text to video, called Vidu, is now capable of generating videos by combining images. This enhancement allows you to merge three photos, such as a t-shirt, a person, and a motorcycle, to create a video where the person appears wearing the t-shirt and riding the motorcycle in a visually integrated scene.
Vidu, which debuted in April of this year, gained popularity on TikTok thanks to its ability to transform two profile photos into realistic videos of people hugging.
Its recent functionality allows global users to create 8-second text-based videos, and now also incorporates images to generate videos with advanced visual consistency, which Shengshu describes as a “breakthrough” in the field of AI.
Commercial applications and ethics of use
According to Jiayu Tang, co-founder and CEO of Shengshu, the AI video generator has already started generating revenue, especially in sectors such as advertising and animation, where customers spend between 100,000 and 1 million yuan monthly ($13,871 to $138,711). .
To manage copyright issues, Tang explained that companies and artists can agree to use their visual style in specific ads.
Additionally, Vidu prohibits the use of images of celebrities and other sensitive individuals, as well as explicit or violent content, complying with data protection regulations by safely deleting personal photos.
Advanced technology and support
Backed by Baidu Ventures, Ant Group and Zhipu AI, among others, Shengshu uses cloud servers in China and abroad to power Vidu. This development of AI marks an important step in the evolution of digital creative tools in the country and in the world, attracting the attention of advertisers and creators who seek quality and versatility in the production of visual content.
