The second-largest dog-themed Cryptocurrency by market capitalization, Shiba Inu (SHIB), is having its best day ever on Saturday, with the Ethereum-based token jumping to an eight-month high price, while pack leader Dogecoin ( DOGE) posts more modest gains.
Shiba Inu saw a sharp rise on Saturday night, reaching a price of $0.00002969 before cooling slightly to a current price of $0.00002897. Even at this moderate price, SHIB is up more than 12% on the day. It last hit Saturday’s peak on April 1, eight months ago.
SHIB is by far the biggest gainer in the top 50 cryptocurrencies by market capitalization, according to data from CoinGecko, with Filecoin in second place with a 10% increase on the day.
However, not all dog-themed coins have soared. Bonk (BONK) and Dogwifhat (WIF) are only up about 1% each in the last 24 hours. But Ethereum-based Floki (FLOKI) is up almost 6% today.
Meanwhile, Dogecoin is approaching a one-week high price with a current mark above $0.43, following a 3% rise on the day. Last Saturday, DOGE hit a three-year high price of $0.475; but even at the current price, DOGE is up 164% in the last month.
Another prominent meme coin, Brett (BRETT) – the main memecoin minted on Ethereum’s layer 2 network called Base – hit an all-time high price of $0.2032 on Saturday, and is currently up 17% in the last 24 hours.
