Meta’s Fundamental AI Research (FAIR) team has announced new models for whole-body control tasks for the Metaverse (Meta Motif) and watermarking AI-generated content.

“Meta Motivo” has been trained with an “algorithm that takes advantage of a set of movement data” to perform a series of body control tasks. Including, “motion tracking, target pose reaching, and reward optimization, without additional training or planning.”

In the future, the company believes this research will enable “fully embodied agents in the Metaverse” and lead to more lifelike interactable characters and the “democratization of character animation.”
In addition, Meta presented another Artificial Intelligence tool, “VideoSeal”, which incorporates hidden watermarks in videos. While invisible to the naked eye, these watermarks can be tracked to verify video authenticity, reflecting Meta’s focus on security and responsibility in digital content.

Northeastern students explore the future of education
Students at Newcastle College University Center (NCUC) will soon be able to take part in international learning without having to leave their classrooms.
The InnoVET project unites five renowned educational institutions (OSAO Koulutuskuntayhtymä from Finland, IES El Rincon from Spain, ROC Horizon from the Netherlands, GBS St.Gallen from Switzerland and NCUC from the United Kingdom), to create a virtual space where Students can collaborate and exchange knowledge.
In this immersive environment, students will be able to explore virtual replicas of classrooms and laboratories, such as the NCUC Aviation Academy, and work on joint projects, fostering a global learning community.
Particularly, NCUC plans to welcome participating universities in March 2025 to present a working concept and begin integrating students into the platform, where they will have their own personalized avatars.
