Hamster Kombat announces airdrop date: Leading Telegram tap-to-earn game Hamster Kombat announced on Wednesday via its official channel that it will launch its long-awaited HMSTR token on The Open Network (TON) on September 26, alongside its airdrop.
The token was originally scheduled to launch in July but was delayed due to the need for additional planning for a large-scale launch. Hamster Kombat has attracted more than 300 million players since its launch this spring, the team said in July, and Telegram data shows more than 80 million active players in the past month.
The airdrop announcement came amid two multi-hour downtime periods on TON last week due to demand for another airdrop, one with a much smaller audience than Hamster Kombat. Will TON be able to handle the Hamster Kombat airdrop? TON developers and the Hamster Kombat team discussed the challenge with Decrypt’s GG.
Rocky Rabbit also announced the date of its airdrop: Hamster Kombat wasn’t the only game to announce details of its airdrop. Rising Telegram game Rocky Rabbit, which tweaks the Hamster Kombat formula with a fitness theme, plans to launch its own TON token on September 23.
Are they releasing their token before Hamster Kombat to avoid getting lost in the hype? Maybe. But whatever the case, the RabBitcoin (RBTC) token is another great launch for Telegram gamers in September.
The beta of the forgotten Runiverse begins: Ronin-based massively multiplayer online role-playing game (MMORPG) Forgotten Runiverse entered open beta on Monday, with the move positioned as a significant step in the franchise’s quest to become a household name.
“I see this open beta as our first real coming-out party,” Bearsnake, co-founder and pseudonymous COO of Forgotten Runes—the broader universe to which Forgotten Runiverse belongs—told Decrypt’s GG. “The biggest step forward for the IP to date is this open beta. It’s going to be what we really lean into.”
New season of NFL Rivals: Mythical Games’ officially licensed mobile football game, NFL Rivals, announced that its second season will launch on September 5th alongside the start of the National Football League (NFL).
Its second season, dubbed “Year 2,” will introduce new game modes, “signature” pack drops, and new ways for fans to engage with the sport. Mythical Games CEO John Linden told Decrypt’s GG that he believes the new PvP mode will be the “best update” to the game since the introduction of the in-game NFT marketplace.
