If you haven’t heard of X Empire (originally released as “Musk Empire”), then all you really need to know is that it’s a Hamster Kombat clone built around Elon Musk. That sentence alone will probably be enough for you to decide whether you want to try it out or avoid it like the plague.
But if you’re one of the tens of millions of players who have tried out X Empire in hopes of getting tokens in the next airdrop, there are a few secrets you’ll probably want to know before you start, since unlike other tap-to-win games, there are ways to lose your in-game currency here.
From bad trades to failed bets on the stock market, one mistake can halt your progress for a while and cause you to lose a good amount of money, sometimes even handing it over to another player. But if you follow these tips, you’ll usually come out ahead, and you might even end up as rich as Elon himself. Well, at least in this strange virtual world themed around him. With the “Mining phase” set to end on September 30th ahead of the launch of the X token on The Open Network and the corresponding airdrop, here’s what you need to know to earn the most tokens in the airdrop.
Invest in yourself
As soon as you start earning money by clicking on your avatar – be it a cartoonish Elon or one of the many more recent additions, such as Telegram CEO Pavel Durov (pictured) – you’ll need to invest in some upgrades. From personal traits (like Empathy and Relationships) to office upgrades and even a staff to help out, you can spend your in-game currency and have all of these upgrades generate passive income.

Your passive income will accumulate for three hours after you close the game, so to get the most out of your income stream, you’ll need to open the game every three hours. We don’t recommend waking up in the middle of the night to claim your Elon Coins, but hey, do what you want.
After you’ve acquired some decent upgrades, your passive income will outweigh anything you earn from clicking on Elon or Pavel or whoever, so you might as well just leave it alone unless you’re desperate to get as much cash as possible, or just need a distraction for your fingers.
Invite friends
Do you like to annoy your friends? Like many games on Telegram, certain upgrades are locked behind the requirement to invite friends to play, meaning you’ll have to goad your friends if you really want to progress.
Like many gamers, I’m not going to be sending out 100 game invites every week to people I know, so many of the more profitable upgrades will never be available to me. But if you have friends who might be interested in playing, make sure they use your link so you can reap the benefits.
Following the launch, X Empire added the ability to spend real money on Telegram’s internal currency, Stars, to basically buy virtual friends that boost your progress, for those who don’t want to bother their real friends. That’s your call, but it will help you unlock more features without the social stress of bothering real people.
Avoid negotiations
Among the current trend of games to earn, one of the few unique ideas in Musk Empire is the Town tab, where you can engage in activities that could earn you extra in-game money. The easiest to learn and play is Negotiations, where you effectively play Rock, Paper, Scissors against another real player.
But if you’d rather keep your money, then it’s best to avoid it, as it’s completely a game of chance. There’s no way to know what to pick, and there’s no skill involved at all, so your chances of winning are slim. The worst thing is that if you lose, then you have to hand over some of your money, lining your opponent’s pockets. That could affect your position in the next airdrop.

Play the stock market
The game you should be participating in in the City tab is the Stock Market, where once a day you can choose three fictional stocks from a selection of options and invest your in-game coins in the hope that they will rise.
You can do it randomly and hope for the best, or simply check out our daily updated guide with the latest stock picks, and make sure you rack up profits every day. The payouts aren’t small either, so this is an easy way to quickly increase your riches.
Complete missions
As X Empire has expanded and added more functionality, it has also added more ways to earn coins on a daily basis. There are daily puzzle and rebus questions you can answer, to earn bonus coins rewarded for purchasing upgrades and tapping the screen, and even rewards for watching YouTube videos shared by the team.

Simply press the Missions button at the bottom of the screen to see all the current opportunities available. If you complete all five daily missions, then you can also claim a “Lucky Box” with even more coins and other possible rewards.
